To my friends in ST, just thought I'd let you all know that I have not been very active since Dec.
On Dec 21 I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
This is a very nasty auto-immune disorder that was started from a common cold. Many who get this disease have to spend months and months in hospital and rehab. This disease is contracted by less than 1 in 100,00 people
Me..I've been very lucky and in some cases I've been very rare to most who contract it in as I never lost my ability to walk as 99% do. Most spend anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months in hospital and I was released in 6 days.
Consequently however, I'm still a long ways from being my "normal" self.
All feeling has been lost in my hands and feet and most of my body is numb to greater or lesser degrees. I have lost approx. 20lbs since December and I'm not an overweight guy. I fatigue very easy and my nature is to go at something "full steam".
As I live in the woods of Canada and heat exclusively with wood maintaining enough strength has been a challenge and not for my girlfriend and good neighbours, it would have been next to impossible to do.
I currently suffer extreme muscular pain at various times throughout the day/night and I am on mega doses of pain killers and muscle relaxants along with a nerve pain-killer.
The good news is, I'm prepared to make a complete recovery however it is going to take months to complete...a lot like learning ST
Anyhow...just thought I'd share with my friends here and thanks designers for making such a great game that is always filled with surprises.
Best Regards,
Terry (T-2) |

Sad to hear you are ill, glad to hear it could have gone a lot worse.
Happy recovery! Instead of lifting those logs you can play more Spacetrace now: )
Cheers!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It means a lot to me. I think I am going to try a minor reconstructor to see how well it works on something flesh and bone. After all it seems to work on fungus based life forms as well as nanite.
Would I have to be "human" race to get it to work? It's been so long since I've played "human" I can't remember if minor reconstructors are available. |

Sorry, mate. Humans cant build reconstructors. But since your lifepoints haven't hit 0 yet then mobile repair bots should fix you up nicely ; ) |
