until now, it was like this:
if someone with class 1,2,3 and 4 fights against someone else with class 1,2,3 and 4, it was safe to be sure all 4 class battles will happen: class 1 versus 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 and 4 vs 4
even if all ships in the enemy class are destroyed from within the class 2 battle, the class 3 battle will happen anyway (with no ships left in the enemy fleet).
------------------------------------------
sugestion for a change:
if all ships in a class are destroyed, before the start of the battle of that fleet, the next class will be attacked.
for example:
a few hundret assasin bugs
http://manual.www.spacetrace.de/tec.php?lang=de&techname=assasin%2Bbug&tec_id=159&#id159
in class 2 destroy all class 3 ships of the enemy.
your cruisers (that were assigned to battle against the class 3 in the enemy fleet) don't find anything there and continue to class 4
another example:
http://www.spacetrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7140
------------------------------------------
should we
1. change the rules like this?
or
2. leave it like it was:
an assigned class tries to battle against the assigend class, no matter if it is empty by now |

i think we should leave it like it was, cause the rule is clear:
battle order is assigned before battle; if some class is emptied, the orders for the stubborn captains of your ships stays like it was and they fly home
otherwise, it is hard to explain, why a few 1000 fighters should stop if there is only one single fighter in the enemy class 1 |

it was at least inconsistent (i checked the battle engine)
i vote totally for the "new" way .
if in a battle a class is cleared , you shouldn't fight against that empty class, whatsoever!

im confused...
wasn't it always like this that if in battle a higher class is rendered empty then it gets skipped?
i think it should be the "new" way also. it sounds logical. |

yes, but only, if it was rendered as empty at the beginning of the confrontation |

well, i feel that it should definately work like so that it is possible to clear out an upper class of the enemy fleet and then use that advantage in the same battle. |
