a Suggestion to increase players:
+ I was going to suggest something. It seems like every investigation probe I send out now retrieves nothing, I've sent about 6 out in the last few days with no finds (apart from pre-warp worlds). With the gamer count being so low, I guess this is what you'd expect., but what would newbies do? Surely they'd just give up if they couldn't find anyone to fight?
So.. maybe we should consider having 'fake' players for newbies to find and fight against? Here me out! This would mean simple fleet setups, maybe swanks or 1000/0/0/4's positioned randomly in the sky for new guys to fight. Otherwise, they literally have nothing to introduce them to the game. No wonder they quit.
This would only be a temporary thing, for a few months until we have a reasonable player count. Once we have that, we can remove the fake bases seeing as the whole sky will be full of planets. I trust completely that vets won't take advantage!!
It would also introduce them to the basic elements of the game, search, destroy etc., whilst maybe giving them a boost of confidence. I imagine it would be fairly simple to program, a bit like 'It' of the Travellers.
Anyway at the moment it's like having a brilliant restaurant but, because nobody goes in there, nobody WANTS to go in there. Lack of gamers = more lack of gamers lol, makers of their own downfall, you get my drift!
I appreciate it's 'out there', and radical and would decrease the integrity of the game for the vets, but tbh they're NOT the ones leaving. It's only for a while, it's only to get more noobs interested in the game - and the second they see their first battle report, whether they win or lose they'll WANT TO CARRY ON. At the moment that's just not happening - for a few months this will be more than worth it.

Interesting idea.
Maybe for each player joining, a random fleet could be generated close to their planet with a tutorial mission to destroy that fleet. |

I like it. It would certainly help player count. I think that the fleets should be random, but based on a certain, random, race. |

there is a small fleet now one sector away, when you start.
but we are still planning the tutorial mission later (in the wiki) |
