we are working at the time on the colonizing game. I know that it is not that popular for various reasons , esp. for the vets.
But i always thought it could be a simpler game layer that could attract new players. a good point to start maybe.

The goal of the game is now to get the greatest population.

so there are 2 kinds of resources: reinforcements ( you get them if you colonized a planet - needed for ground troops )

and the population ( you need to build a terraformer - only possible if you land some ground troops)

we improved the map.. you can navigate your fleets with the colony map.

if you wanna try it: it might be useful to use a different navigation: hq - preferences - new navigation.

then you will have a complete empire - colony menu with all needed links.

we will work on it to make it playable and fun.

any suggestions/beta testing appreciated.

there is a use for vets maybe. you can build a com-sat-station on colonies, which acts as a dsp - linked to the pyramid-device

How about you can build a shipyard there and use say 1000 of the population for troops(these would be the patriots so to speak). Shocking right?

the game play is not ready, yet.

but we are working on it.

we try to install some kind of convoy stuff to it (convoys which carry VG - valuable goods - from your colonies to your base) these convois should be real ships , which can be scanned and destroyed. the will be auto-piloted.

so the VG will be the winning condition and maybe useful for something else... maybe like money or something.

How about earning mp points from colonies you own.

mp for colonies...nope. not balanced.
i like the idea of introducing a new victory condition as the VG. It gives the colony game a point.

yes... credits. with the convoys transporting the vd (valuable goods) to the homebase. These credits could be used for multiple purposes (we will see)

it will be possible to pirate and/or destroy them.

come on NS, ToC and everyone else, join the colony war!
it has been improved a lot and is already pretty fun, plus with the current activity of admins i'm sure it will be improved even further.
besides, having colonies can give you a massive advantage in the main game also because you can use the satellite arrays on the colonies as probes with your pyramid devices. so alliances with a lot of colonies have eyes everywhere.
TF already has 30 colonies!!! lets give the newbs some competition!

cheers!

good luck with that! after landing on the BH you have about 1 millisecond to create the colony before your colony star evaporates into billion sparkling atoms.
XYZ owns the BH.

I'm glad you're up for the colony game though. I hope we'll share a cluster border so we can duke it out in the colony game.

cheers!

@admins
does it matter how many troops i have stationed at a colony? does it reflect on the colony value or increase the population when i have more troops on a planet than just 1? or is having more troops just good for defending the colony?

at the time, the troops are for defending.

just have more troops than the attacker

****
at the time the ground battle system is very simple - just a direct trade. This will change too. In the future you won't loose all you troops. There will be a value for their organization (percentage) . if this percentage reaches zero, you will loose that unit. But it won't reach zero from one battle. the organization will recover slowly, so you can attack with your units again after some time.
to destroy units, alliances must start coodinated attack.

like it ?

the colony population is recalculated today. so expect some major change in the stats.

sorry for changing this , but it is needed.

we thougth about the gameplay and we think it is quite fun, but it would be nice to have less coloniesable planets because:

* it would intensify the fight for key-planets which are in a strategical position.

* better overview over your important colonies

* the need for organized attacks with many members on one colony

i thought about it and i think 1/10 (400 colonies) of the density we have now is really enough and would be better for the gameplay. i don't think this will affect the gameplay negatively if 500+ players would play it, because then the attacks will be even more organized and intense.

what do you think?

but at the moment it is quite hard to reach the colonies, we need some kind of wormhole-network to be able to reach colonies, that are far away from your homeplanet. or maybe another system to get more reinforcements to your fleets, that are far away from your planet
