astronomical navigation (basic research)

with this research you get access to a general navigation map in your hq of the galaxy with all warp-trail traces made visible over the last few weeks.
you can see each fleet movement, that happens in the galaxy

researchtime: 2 d

needed research:
advanced tactics

no.
the idea is a map, where you see all fleet movements in the galaxy.

this way you could see in which areas there is much traffic(black hole for example) and whereelse could be something interesting.
big alliance wars could be made visible with this

we could add all these warp-trails in the galactic map like the 3d-fleets-mapwe already have

This is a very very good idea.
But the problem is, the map would become really crowded, So there should indeed be 2 maps, one for this research and the other that we have now.

This research would give the user a huge advantage.
They'd know where each fleet is travellingor has travelled for a week or so.

After careful consideration, I think it should be added, its a dangerous thing, but then again the user wont know whose fleet is travelling and they also wont get anything directly out of this research.

hmm..... yes, yes it gets my vote.

WTH? with this you will get everyone's coords. What about no coords and you just try to guess where are you?.
Even then it would be quite dificult to represent the 500/500/51 that is not the middle. It should be a detailed map that would be also HUGE.So i dont know i'll can see it

sure, it will be an extra map. or an option in the existing map that you can turn on and off

it could also be a 2D-Map where you don`t see the z-coords or we use the same engine like the existing 3D-Java-Map

is there someone who tried to add extensions to our map?
http://www.spacetrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=44418

i could give you the needed data to program that map into the java-applett

Good cause you could see if an alliance is up to something, but there woudl have to be two maps where you could limit what all traces there are on the map so its not a big blob of lines that no one understands
