(Note that I have removed the names and locations of both me and my opponents)

The reason I used the ??? and !!! to represent the names of my adversaries is not only to hide their names, but also because they're two different planets. I had launched a pre-emptive strike at ???'s planet, yet I encountered both ??? and !!! fleets.

For the most part, I was able to crush both of their fleets, but the facts that I was unable to destroy ??? industrial power, he has 3 Motherships, I just barely won that last fight (to my understanding at least), and I am vastly outnumbered, is making me a bit nervous. So, that gives me two options:

1) Retreat back to my Base, cut my loses, regroup, and prepare for a second attack. The only problem I see with this is that I will lose the element of surprise and leave myself open to counterattack at the hands of ??? and !!!.

2) Reinforce my Fleet 1 with the Fleet 2 I am mobilizing before my Fleet 1 launches the "next confrentation" , launch a final assult on ???'s Planet, and, in all likelyhood, win the war. The only problem I see with this is that it will take time for Fleet 2 to be fully prepared.

Perhaps I am seeing this war the wrong way, as I am new and not to sure of the workings of battle in this game.

Any advice would be helpful.

What you should do Zorith is to look up the function of all the enemy ships you encountered. Then look at your fleets and why they were effective against the enemy.
You had a great fleet stack and the big danger to you was the penguin ships.
I did not go through each battle report but I'll assume you were using a "starter" fleet. These "starter" fleets have been made from some veteran players favorite combinations that proven to be effective.

You will not always be lucky that way. The challenge of the game is to learn to stack fleet setups that are better than your opponent.
Look hard at your own fleet stack and why it was successful in this instance.

That's the primary function of the game. Now...what you do stragecially in the game is wide open to intrepretation
Good luck and ask people questions.

You can take your fleet to a planet that has a battle simulator where you can try out combinations against other combinations.
Only problem is you may have to fight to keep your place at the simulator.

Thanks, I went through some of the ships that I battled with, I found that the Troikas were a real help to me.

As for the war, I found out that the guy I was attacking would be recieving reinforcements, and rather quickly. I knew I could not fight a fresh Fleet, and my own reinforcements would not get their in time. So I decieded to withdraw back to my base and call it a day.

Once again, thanks for the help.
