it depends what you want out of your console the ds is more interactive and has games such as mario and nintendogs however the psp is less interactive and has games like mgs and gta but has the advantage of u being able to listen to music, go surf the net (im making this reply on my psp) and watching vids so is more of a of a ipod aswell as a console the psp also has an attachable cam and there are rumurs of a phone attachment being made which can call any psp with the phone and you can play online

the psp ftw though some people tend not to punctuate at all when writing because on the long end its very annoying.

Anyways, i say PSP. Better graphics, specs, SCREEN, and other abilities.

I had a PSP before... it's awesome. My gf has a DS Lite... it's awesome too.
Depends on what you want... but either way, you should mod/crack it...
DS with the mod chip can use wifi/net as well, along with pretty much everything the PSP can do, but you need to find the software. Games for the DS are small and easy to download.
PSP has everything you need already, but if you crack it... free games and better firmware (I think) than what Sony provides. PSP games are much bigger downloads, and you'll need to pay more for Sony's own memory stick. (or get a pro duo adaptor for a microSD, which is cheaper)

Main thing is the games. PSP: more adult oreinted games. DS: more kid oreinted games.

If you mod/crack whichever one you're getting...
Around $50 for R4/Supercard/whatever name for the DS, just pop it in and play. You need a microSD card to go with it though. Around $10-$50 depending on what size you get and where you get it.
Around $50-$70 for 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for the PSP, and patience and the ability to follow instructions to hack it.
(you're in England right? divide $ by 2 for the price in pounds)

Guys like the PSP, girls like the DS. If you have a DS, girls will think you're awesome and will want to play on it. If you have a PSP, guys will think you're awesome and will want to play on it. So whichever way you roll...
If that has any affect on your decision...

The PSP is VERY hard to hack ever since firmware version 2.00. You could try bricking it and get a service to unbrick it again...

Actually, hackers are keeping up with Sony pretty well. new firmware comes out, hackers crack it in a month, and then other hackers make a program that lets you do the downgrade to ver. 1.50 easily.
then it's the upgrade to the custom firmware and you're good to go.

and 2.00 has been cracked for over a year

To keep you updated, I've decided to go for the Nintendo DS Lite.

-It's cheaper
-Got this wi-fi thing which is really cool
-I'm younger, more into games
-I can surf the internet on my computer...
-Touch Screen
-Games really cheap
-Friends have them
-Neighbour has one
-Wider variation of games
-Nice display (two screens)
-Original
-Can't play that well on PSP
-Can play well on DS
-Can watch, listen to music on Ipod
-Have been a Nintendo fan since when I got first game boy (2003)
-PSP has less batteiry life
-PSP more likely to have scratches
-Nintendo DS meant for younger audience (me)
-Nintendo DS Lighter
-Nintendo DS Brighter
-Nintendo DS can play GBA games
-PSP games more expensive
-PSP has extra things that I don't care about

That's why

I'll probably get..

Animal Crossing (Wi-Fi)
Pokemon Diamond (Wi-Fi)
FIFA 06 (portable footy at third of cost of FIFA 0
Simpsons Game (simpsons devotee)

Any other suggestions?

Exactly, it depends on what you want to do.
If you're looking for some light gaming and fun, I'd suggest the DS but if like me you want to listen to music, play games like GTA ect and surf the internet I'd go for the PSP.

That being said, if you do go for the PSP don't get the standard version as this new "PSP: Slim" is coming out soon. (Or is it out already?)

its out allready methi and the only problem with these light things is there are no accesories for it if you look around for normal PSP accesories you can find solar charges, radios, cames, protection cases ect which dont fit onto light psps

You really made the right choice. The DS has better games, and is made by a better company (although that isn't really a valid argument) and is just more fun.

In my opinion, at least.

I agree with KoT, however we are both of the same age (abouts) so we will go for the same kind of console. I've had tons more fun out of my GBA than my PS2.

The PS1 rocked, but it whent all downhill after that....

I've got 180 hours down on my Pokémon Ruby game. I don't think most PSP games could get me to do that. And I think Pokémon Pearl very well could.

And, I started over, twice. So it's actually more then 180.

I think I've got about 150 hours on Pokemon Emerald, Lokking forward to doing the same on Pokemon Pearl too, plau Animal Crossing is well cool , If anybody's got this game I will be visiting your village shortly . Also FIFA 06, mostly sae as FIFA 08 so I'll be happy , plus cheaper, 9 quid on amazon, and even less on Ebay Buy-It-Now .

Animal Crossing for the Gamecube is so much better then for the DS...You just don't get the same fun feel.

(By the way, good call on buying Fifa '06, as they're pretty much all the same)
