optics (basic research)
this research makes the possibility to create a virus (this virus affects the research center of the enemy and steals the info that you need, fleet status, hq status, production status, etc. you can choose, but it will take more time to produce the precise trojan) or even send your hq information to allies (you need the signal emitter to send the info or the virus; this research or the emitter wont prevent a stealing, to prevent it you must have a cloak)
