How does one (a noob) get to understand the coordinate system, Do I have to be a geometry wizard or something? Because that I am not!

the coordinate-system is the standart carthesian systen. the x and y coordinates define a layer, the z coordinate spends the depth.

if you have a java plugin you can view the galaxy (hq) or the your fleets (fleets/map) in a 3-d aplett. this could help your imagination.
