What do you guys find is the best way to verify if someone can be trusted via recruitment? I like the 'dont post on the forum for recruitment' as I can see where that could lead to badness- I want to be the one to intitiate the contact as I know they arent looking for me. But what types of questions do you veterans ask and how you filter out those who can - and those who cant - be trusted.

Many thanks!

It costs more effort then the positive effects it will have. Too bad maybe, but remember the admins got their own lives.

It is a great game, why complain?

Requirements before recruting as coords, com list....etc
A spy can always lie saying he is another person etc. So there is not such a good way to trust on somebody. But if he is a spy you just destroy his base later or other thing.
This game hasnt so many "spies" its not about it.

Reason I ask is because I invited someone, and he says he wants to join, but my friend fought him a few days ago and said that he is already part of an alliance (because it said so in his History page). So I am wondering if this guy is saying he will join me when really he is spying for the other alliance.

If he battled him, he already knows the coords so there is no reason to spie at your alliance. But he may be a multi and get many accounts into your alliance and steal the name:P.
If the alliance in which he was before was better than yours now i wouldnt accept him. But is up to you.

Diplomacy is not my best area:P

Conejo...Spying is not easy and usually it takes a major commitment on the spy to accomplish it successfully. It is as much a part of the game as the propoganda portion of it is in the forums. You will see this happening from time to time in the forums.
As I said before, you have equal manpower but the "cunning" part of it is wide open.
Star Commander is the KING of Cunning, a very good spy and not too bad in the fleet composition dept either.
As you read the forums and suffer a few "experiences", you will learn who you can trust and who you cannot trust. The new guys, I just establish comms with them and after a bit of dialogue you get a general feeling of trustworthyness or not.

Chances are your alliance is not in any type of war right now so probably not too much reason to put a spy in it. If it is a big alliance you want info on, you may try to put a spy in but that is sometimes difficult. If it's a small alliance , easier to do a couple of Invader hits to find out what you need to know.

You will have a great time if a few new guys got together and just had fun not worried about points. Ripping up the Black hole or swiping a flag somewhere. Figuring out how mtwg's work etc. It really is a lot of fun if you have the right attitude. Get through an evo and then settle in and get more serious about actual score.

Perhaps you will get real lucky like PFIU did and end up with a good crew that enjoys working together.
We are not the best but were getting there.

And Off topic a little...Congratulations to NZ on thier move to the # 1 alliance. Is it your first time there?

Multies = bad
Spies = annoying.

There is no comparing the two except when a player creates a multi for the purpose of spying, as in the borg era.

@T2 no its no the first time, but its the first time it has such a good relative score which is not false as always. I think the player with most evolution has 52%(me) SO you can imagine that NZ will have his best score ever.
And why not to congratulate PFUI and TFP? they both have grow up as an alliance in the score point of view

@Spyder...I am agree...another thing...You idiot how dare you to say "borg era"?

@COnejo, Dude Spyder touched a topic which is very long...well he is the player with more time here so he has to bring long historys:P Anyway i wil explain you the spies and the spies and the long borg era tomorrow. I will have to find other topics(apreciate that other one do that for me)

Well...TFP is a well experienced team and to be in the top 5...I expect no less from them. Pfiu is doing very well in the score dept but they are not likely to reach # 1 anytime soon.
NZ have been troubled lately with faulty computers and changing membership. They also reached #1 by using skill and not from questionable battle practices.
I don't recall them being in the #1 slot so I thought congrats were in order
