William Says:
Quote:
TRA + Evo vs TO + MH which was an awesome lovely war

And how correct you are that was the first really good war i had ever been in.

And if anyone wants to write a passage about the history of spacetrace, maybe you william? because in april next year i will open up a website dedicated to spacetraces history.

Yeah I will take some time this week and write a nice peace of history. I guess it needs to be in proportion with the other ages/eras?

@ All: If you absolutely want something to be added about summer 2004/autumn 2005, just pm me and I will see to it that it is implemented.

But just this week, then back to work; again 2 weeks of studying for exams.

If the second period is finished in a satisfieing way, I might rejoin around end of januari, otherwise end of the third period that will be begin of arpil.

Wish me luck.

Take Care. Love you guys.

Cheers,

Rob

YOU WILL RECTIFICATE

I started that initiative a year ago and wrote a large part of it, introducing the ages. Then I sent it to Gorthmog and Spyder to see if they could fill it up and correct the errors I made. That was a year ago and never continued with that because it was real difficult to make write history well. And you can still see that the first 5 ages are written by a different writer than the last one. Ask Gorthmog and Spyder they will confirm it.

wow, thats quite nice - so long never be here and still not forgotten

hi, to everyone from old times

even though i retired to veterans club i may know try to bring some light into the darkness of ancient times...

round1: (peace of love)

i learned the game in the early time which was actually round one as far as i know. joining in the middle of the game i founded serendib alliance and with its 3 members we fought against the leading alliances which were lead by evil foes (i think one alliance where the imperium and the other the space rebels or something - my mind is fading but Fungu of Sporogenesis will know - but i wont tell his later name here...)
but i had the luck to meet Frederik of Ktar in this round who actually was the most creative member i ever met. together we developed new tactics (which were easy as there were no standard tactics yet) with which we amazed each other
the game was a little buggy this time - so a lot of tactics were banned during game (e.g. the clustercruiserbug)...

round 2: (wizard of oz)

i think i am known to the most (who know me at all) with this name. this round was hard. as frederik and i decided to play in different alliances. which led to quite hard battles between our alliances and their leaders. it was really hard times. this round was less buggy and a deal of new ship were invented - i think the following go to my invention: bounty hunter, sabotage fighter, graze reactor, pirate ship, spectre , troika, plasma emitter, flamingo , dreadnought , cloak generator, pioneer-ship, shadow star, pirate flagship, give or take a few.... maybe i am wrong with some (but most of them just gained only a small meaning in practical tactics anyhow) . but these days the community was much smaller and several players worked together with admins discussing new ships and tech trees. so after all about 1/3 or more ship were develloped in this round by the community.

round 3: (Captain Silver of GFDR-3574)

i choosed this bit stupid name to get some anonimity but this idea was quickly gone as every got the clue who i were. i learned bogey this round who became quite active and was a player to be reconned with. as far as i remember we were in diffrent alliances but though there were times of hard war around us - had the best diplomatic and friendly relations enemies can have. i never met any player as honest and fair as him.

round 4: (wizard of oz)

after the bad idea of playing anonimous i retained back to wizard of oz. i think this was were i got some fame. this round was a nuisance for every player as i played together with bogey this round and we had a larger alliance with us. so the alliance thing was dealt out early which led to some disagreement along with the other players. this round was so a diplomatic round where many players learned themselves by trying to fight our alliance. and as far as i remember a lot of now leading players got their first merits here.

i hope i dont mix anything up from now on ...

round 5: (i am here because of a score of)

this name was pure arrogance (think this name in the top 10 list were i surely claimed to be). as far as i remember i tried out every senseful tactic that came to my mind till now. so i started experimenting with game concepts. i founded the space mercenaries which followed the leading idea that you could hire this alliance by paying points (sending a fleet of motherships for a payment). actually the idea didnt work - we got 3 or 4 job for 1 or 2 motherships each. so we soon retained to normal style of playing. but not stopping advertising our service. as we were succesful as an alliance (in the usual way) many rumours about the success our this concept spread ending in a discussion whether this concept (getting sponsored by other players even for a duty) should not be counted as cheating (like multiplaying). in fact for us this discussion was useless as we had hardly any jobs and doing a job afforded so much time that in the end beeing a hired gun was a minus deal.

round 6 (one of the borg)

the name was the program. after six rounds as a point hunter and hardcore player i planned my retirement. i had the idea to build the largest alliance ever in spacetrace and then in midgame leave forever.
there were two basic idea: post the tag and pass to everyone who wants to know it (and those who dont as well) even in the forum - that was new as the alliance pass were tried to keep as secret as possible after some treasons had happened in the rounds before...
the second idea was to FORCE everyone to join ("assimilating") so we send enervating messages to other players-some with sound telling them to join or be attacked by a dozend players untill they joined.
the first idea went quite well as the second didnt bring many new members as others seemed principially not to be willing to be assimilated - strange...
instead they founded resistance as in between the borg collective had about 40% of members and several alliances cooperated.
unfortunally several multiplayers came to plan who though to number out the borg collective in this way. as i left the game few veteran players were in the borg collective but many newbees and multiaccounts (due to the open password it became habit of the multies to send sucked out accounts into the collective ...)
so to stop the evil things i began i stopped playing and started hunting multis instead...

and this is were starcomander continious the history in quite a good way..

tactics:

i was often be honored of having so very good tactics. i did a great effort in develloping them and some were quite effective (having fleets capable fighting a dozend enemies at the bh and surving). in addition there were some tricks - some common now like the flyoverattack. but spacetrace works with simply tactics as well - i won two rounds playing pure standard ship fleets (f-d-c-m) during 90% time of a round. but to tell the truth the main factor was time. i worked a lot at computer and so i had i lot of time playing. in addition i develloped some kind of addiction like first when visiting a friend was: "hi, i am sorry but before we go to that party i must go to the net - i have some fleets attacking in 4 minutes - btw do you think they have internet at the party?...".
so it was no measure to those playing ST the normal way (as admins planned it): easily, looking up for events once a day as most players did and still do...

so good luck to everyone - keep on playing this fantastic game.
greetz to everyone i met - some i still have contact with as ST is quite a connective game with lots of diplomacy and the chance of making friends.

i did name just a few players not meaning that all the others were meaningless but it would be too great an effort to give everyone the credit they deserve. i think remebering the old (ancient times everyone will know himself what i mean ....

love,

wizz

Wow, Wizz is posting, hope he comes back, only player I could ever co ordinate with.

He made a couple of memory errors though.
Round three he was in the Mutes with me (bogie) although not from the start. He was trying to play evil and joined many alliances prior to settling on us.

He also missed a round, the borg round was actually round 7 or 1 of evolution. Wizz took time off after round 4 and returned as I am here a round later. I was Cody then Bogart again during this time, alliances time twisters and Law and Order. Law and order was fun. We were rather pompous.

Now I must take issue with Skyfreak, he has always believed, (with some justification) that he was one of nine who killed borg.

This is not so. The simple fact of the matter is I killed borg. I did so out of frustration with the multitude of multis who contaminated the alliance. Wiz had to leave and I got to be leader.

When I became leader, I closed the password, and began kicking out suspected multis and laggers. In some cases the alliance jumped over 30000 points whenever I booted someone. In any case closing the alliance destroyed the concept, which was not my intention, but nevertheless. Eventually I evolved and formed the Privateers, with some former borg and some other old friends Taz Rubens briefly etc. The borg collective was still 20 members strong during this time, eventually dissapearing as members went inactive.

However I don't mean to diminish the role of the abc kids. The borg wars were as intense as I have ever played, I think for many of them as well, spacetrace has been a little duller since.

Now this is where my idea comes in to it, maybe just maybe, if i opend up another borg, no multis though but just a big borg alliance i wonder if the old ones would come back ie. WoC, Privateers, SMs, -TO- ?

APEmpire wont be coming back, as i closed all 3 of there alliances down, i found that the only multi who wasnt a multi was king x and the rest were so he left the game and i kicked all the players out of APEmpires Empire.

It felt bad to be doing it but it had to be done!

Indeed.

Yet Spyder, 'bout the borg war... I don't completely agree. Skyfreak was indeed one of the nine(?) who killed borg.

There's one very simple reason for this - back then, new players were, well, to say at least, afraid of Borg (well, ok, *feared Borg* is a better term), whereas most experienced ones thought of Borg as a rather irritating thing, preferred to be either part of it, or, to have some sort of NAP, so they can live, well, ok, *play happily ever after*. (Of course there were some who joined Borg for other reasons - 'cuz they wanted to, for example, sheesh!).

You have to admit it - most of ST was scared as 6it. (just take a look at the forums at around the time when ABC was formed) That promise of "You either join, or, you'll be beaten into submission over and over again 'till you do join" was quite efficient, coming from a 60+ alliance.

And only a handful decided to stand up, mostly new players. And Skyfreak was one of them. Without ABC, Borg would've survived for quite more time. You cleaned up the alliance after it proved ineffective, but without the war, it wouldn't 've proven ineffective in the first place. We stood up, and guess how that affected the fear which was Borg's main advantage. After that, it was only a matter of time.

You made the alliance closed, due to frustration, that's true. Ok, but I do believe that at least some of that frustration was due to Lou using Borg's very own Transwarp network to his advantage... and others following suit The easiest way to stop someone from using your very own TWG is to make a closed alliance by not giving your pass away.

The war itself was indeed as intense as a war can get (Maybe HSA vs TO was near that intensity, for me)... but to my knowledge, it was more on the ABC part, retaliations from Borg, paradoxally, were very rare.

But you have to admit it - ABC did it's job, one way or the other.

Speaking of frustration, I hope you ain't still mad at Skyfreak for the "[X]"

Ok i have filled in some of the blanks in the spacetrace history here is my version i think its mostly accurate but memory fades in this old mans head

First Age
This age became famous and legendary because of one alliance: The Borg Collective (better known as borg). Not because they were famous, contra dictionary. They were one of the most hated alliance, led by legendary player One of Borg and his right-hand Phantom [We are Bjork]. Posting in the forum only this:
tag: borg
pass: borg

Well so much hate can only result in an Coalition of alliances to fight back. And it came. The name was Anti-Borg Coalition [ABC] and a flame war begun. The alliances that were responsible for it were:

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (better known as LXG) was founded by Mighty [God]. He was an old player that created a reasonable alliance. But the leader was unmasked after 2 weeks as a multi by the leader of Borg and banned from ST by admins. Wolfboy [skyfreak in forum] took over control and made a feared alliance of it. But a part of split away in another alliances, but later the part formed the whalehunters and joined ABC in the war against borg.

Illuminati was the creation of Gorthmog [steven1982] and his friend Bork. It became a reasonable alliance of it with when CoW kamekaze6 came in and drive it to war against Borg. From the start Illuminati was closely napped with LXG and even after the betrayal of Mighty [God] LXG and illuminati sticked together. And recruited JaM of GaDDiM [JaM] from LXG to be their MoC.

Assassins <todo>

In the end the leader of the Borg quit and his right-hand took over. Back then The Borg Collective counted a number of 80 which largely consisted out of multies. The new leader tried to clear the alliance but it was too late and at the end of the first evolution the borg was disappeared.

The wars are now legendaries and there were several alliances which try to recreate the borg alliance, some still exist, but none reached the level of popularity borg has reached back then.

Second Age
This age begun with the announced in First Age allianced called Nazgul founded by kamekaze6 and led by Gorthmog both of Illuminati. Based on the book of Tolkien they called themselves 'the nine' and became a good top alliance. The alliance was pretty active in the forum and irc because most of the players were recruited that way.

On the other hand did Stalker[The Stalker] {Phantom} found The Privateers. A bunch of players got together who didn't want any bounds. They started in the underdog position but found themselves quite good at it.

Few weeks later the Species begun led by Tweety which was an alliance for fun. They allied with Privateers since a number of players were good friends of each other but didn't want to join each other alliances.

The war didn't come as a surprise, but still there are conflicts of who started it. The Privateers version is that the base bashing of one of their members by Nazgul and the official alliance channel topic contained a call to get at war against Privateers was the intention to declare war at them. Nazgul version is that they intended to maybe start a war on Privateers, they were actually talking about it. The topic on their channel however
Didn’t call for war, but contained a message talking about an attack.

A good battle became in till Gorthmog [steven1982] took a break and kamekaze6 did something that made the alliance fell apart. They invited another alliance full of newbies and n00bs. These players are called Neo-Nazguls to make distinguish them from the "the nine". They took the alliance over by shouting and making themselves not very beloved by 'the eight' and other alliances. Nazgul disbanded.

It has been continued by the n00bs pretty long and re and refounded but the originally founder always demanded they a name change because their level of fighting didn't match the level of the first nine. These players are also called Neo-Nazguls.

[Third Age]
ST is known for his long learning curve and that is why kamekaze6 {Illuminati, Nazgul} made an alliance to help them: SpaceAcademy (abbreviation is SA but not so common). The idea was to have a teaching alliance.

Warriors of Chaos (WoC) has started back then an alliance founded by Lady Apple with as CoW Weylyn, a alliance with a big mouth and a lot of courage. They started a war <reason> against Species.

Some Privateers and SpaceAcademy members were joining Species against WoC at the highest part. SpaceAcademy was therefore accused of not being neutral by some players. Also in Privateers there were some members who fought SpaceAcademy.

On the WoC side some newbie like alliances joined them like Nazgul and some others.

WoC gave up at the end and disbanded <I thought>

[Fourth Age]
This age all the current no1 alliances united themselves in a war against multies. They were mostly in the alliance TFP <what did the abbrev stand for ?>. The hunt was started and led by Aealon the right hand of The Privateers and supported by other players.

[Fifth Age]
TO came up and lot

(or perhaps part another age)
Illuminati 2 started (HSA) Illuminati-2 better known as HSA was originally an idea from kamekaze6, and was to get the Illuminati back, Morgoth Bauglír (Gorthmog, steven1982) was to lead the alliance, but due to his absence when it started Dutchbatter took the lead. When Gorthmog then joined the alliance he chose to let Dutchbatter continue the lead since he was doing the job well. Kamekaze6 was once again CoW. The idea of the alliance was to get as much top players in the alliance as they could, and they succeeded in this quite good. Spyder [phantom] joined, Rince (species) joined and more veterans from the great alliances. But also TO started to exist again, and were taking the top position at that moment. Capture the flag was introduced, and TO managed to steal the flag from HSA, this is when the great war started, aswell on forum as in game. After days of big fighting and lots of attempts to get the flag back, HSA finally managed to get their flag back, and later stole TO flag. HSA however got disbanded when players got in respawn and chose to take a break, they slowly vanished.

HSA was one thing but no-one could have predicted this next moved. Methi (latter on will live too become the founder of communism) declared a peaceful co-existence between many different alliances including the borg, ApeEmpire, Borg
The New Sons of Korhal, The Survivors of Auir. and The United Federation of Planets, Black Ops, Triumvirate, Masterhunters Insane Clone Posse (ICP) and Hells angels in Vietnam (HAV) this group of allies along with other alliances formed the first major co-operation between alliances and it was called Pentician. Pentician waged war on TO and slowly the Pentician lost HAV was the first too disappear much too the leader Lowvoice’s disappointment and the others followed in death.

[Sixth Age}

This is known as the age of communism. Methi ex Pentician organiser along with Lowvoice ex HAV leader, Evans ex HAV member, Compu_Head the signature designer Anon De Mouse and O-siris were the first members of the first ever communist alliance. The Red Army [TRA]. At this time TO had gone and came back again but during the early days of TRA TO were only in game for the score planets and not alliance warfare due too many of there members being missing from the equation. TO thought well at the Blackhole owning it for a total of 93days they also owned the Chronotron for72 days and the Graviton Pulsar for 67days. Llkrnboi1018 saw this and founded a new alliance known as Defiance and there goal was too “defy” TO but when latter asked too join Might’s revolution against TO they passed up the opportunity. Meanwhile The Red Army were having a war with the Intercellar alliance which ended with a huge victory for TRA when Intercellar got so desperate they used the guest account too attack Anon De Mouse while Lowvoice Evans and Methi were there defending against a last desperate onslaught by Intercellar members Methi and Lowvoice laughed long into the night with such things as “Oh my God the guest accounts coming we only have 13 days until it gets here what shall we do!!!!!” shortly after Intercellar surrendered no charges were pressed against the multi. By this time TO had regained all its power and started war on TRA such jokes were issued by Methi during that time such as “the communist pop tart” found here http://www.spacetrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=46446&highlight=communist+pop+tart#46446 but jokes TO had the final laugh as Lowvoice went on holiday and shortly after returning Methi had too go on holiday too and leadership of TRA was passed down too Anon De Mouse but by that time there was barely anything left for Anon too manage and TRA died

[Seventh Age]

Shade left the game and slowly TO started to disappear off the statistics screen after a month or so TO existed no more with in the rankings and the two new upcoming alliances were Space Bourne Rangers (SBR for short) which was led by non other then Achillies, but for one powerful alliance there must be another that’s where The Gunslingers came in and there leader was KameKaze6 the alliances warred and many attempts were taken to take either flags but non happened. This didn’t last very long though as shortly most the players in Gunslingers had coursework and schools etc.. to go to, so in the end they disbanded some quit playing while others just made new accounts in order to keep low while they had to. Another alliance around this time was The Flying Dutchman (TFD) this alliance was created and led by William Wallace also known as Rob, he with his other Dutch companions no matter how much they were mocked, they still survived the great wars, even when fighting in them against Gunslingers they survived, I myself (Evans) give respect and honour to those players of TFD.
After all this had happened Gunslingers disbanded SBR members keeping low profiles, some key members of Gunslingers switched into The Legendary Commanders (TLC) I being one of them. The alliance is run by Kirby, and CoW position belongs to Link, the alliance is the next ruling elite alliance on the game until either one of the great powers return I.e. WoC, TO, Nazgul, Privateers
In which then there will be another great war(S) to take control of the number one position on the stats chart. Also there is another alliance who trys to test now and again firstly it was under the control of Mighty (Mighty God as he likes to put it or Mighty **** as base likes to) now under command of there leader Metody_I_Evil, another veteran of the galaxy of Space Trace. The alliance at its first coming was a new player training alliance but when they started to go up in the ranks they started to act more how do you put it... Macho they tryed taking on big alliances like there selves, ie. TLC. The war is still ongoing while i right this mainly it consisted of me (Evans) taking on Tee2 and his two companions Plasmifie and Big Mama also all friends from there former alliance the Trailer Park Crew (T.P.C) but in the end the attacks started to get annoying so a war started out and the war while i write this History of modern day spacetrace is still happening.
Also in this new era we had a few more players arrive back from the wilderness disappeared months ago others years... but finally they returned back still knowing there stratagems and knowing how to play. They are veterans and always will be as i see it and I’m sure many others do.

Sorry buddy, but Lol Rok was still a small newbie in WoC that didn't really matter

@ Lowvoice, nice try but way to biased. I am giving it a try tomorrow. More alliances will be mentioned, I'll try to keep it as neutral as possible and as true as it can be, I'll browse through all the threads I can find.

Take Care,

Rob
