Hmmm... before any sort of an enhancement to the newbie protection is added, there has to be a way of determining newbies from newly respawned vets. Also, there has to be a way of making ST even more addictive for the community to grow
Two birds with one stone?
I ain't talking about going *police* on the subject, doing an IP/mail address checking system, with a certain degree of pseudo-AI which determines patterns in messages/online time etc. to give back a definitive "vet/newbie" answer.
I was thinking in the lines of an "ID-card" for each player. It contains: previous player names/planet names/positions in alliances etc. Sum of all scores. Biggest score in a day, biggest score in a battle, held the BH all by himself for X days, whatever... A whole bunch of stats, the more, the better, add some IRC, add some forum, add so many stats it'll take 20 mins just to read it if it has to....
It'll make ST indeed truly addictive, even MORE than it was back in the round system. I mean, stats is the reason for most players at most games to play indeffinately long - just to improve it
The SpaceID card should have a few extras however, first of all, the ability to change the nick that appears on it, since it lasts indeffinately It should be visible for all players by default settings, but also, for all who like going undercover, they should have the option to keep theirs hidden
You can always prove that a certain account has been yours by providing user name/password for it. (If it could be made to work backwards in time as well)
Of course, anyone might choose to open a new card, but, what's the point in doing so, knowing that the next three months won't mean anything for what you've done in the past 2 years? And if a newbie opened one, and went negative, well, he can always start a new one...
It won't be too big load on the server, since most of the stats for previous evos are static, so they're just a few byte strings... It might even be a normal HTML if current evo stats is dropped out, therefore, being generated only once by the PHP...
By making the vets to make themselves obvious, it would be easier to implement any sort of an enhancement to the newbie protection system.
I've just sketched the idea, any suggestions/improvements etc would be appreciated... so...
What do u guys think? _________________ _____________________________________________

@Rubens - erm, it'll be actualized by the server itself, fully automatic
Edit: I just realized, it leaves a nice multi-repellant taste... Nobody would bother go multiying around, knowing that in his all-time-everlasting-one-of-a-kind ID... only ONE of his accounts will count, claiming the others will, well, not be a good idea now would it ... And as for farmers... might end up too scared to have their ID deleted, ruining all they farmed for _________________ _____________________________________________

SpaceID card it could be a revolution
Imagine though, it would also be like job passes/alliance passes:
It would list your former name
It would list your time playing
It would list how powerful you are
It would show in alliances also that if your improving or need mre help
It shows you are part of the best Online Game Ever SPACETRACE!
Admin Please Add It!
Also though is it possible to be added ? _________________ APEmpire |

[sarcasm]Why not implementing an OLAP analyzer, which helps you to make your own info cubes and reports about players, aliances etc..?[/sarcasm]
Its because it will change the objectives of the game where the admins have to think about - full information boring, too. Methody's right when he says that statistics keep players ingame, but its also the long term competition, and not things like "best one-day score", which obiviously can be beaten on a single day.
I dont want to blame the admins, but, again, I'd really like to know what they think about all the new ideas and the current discussions. With these few players a live-test sounds like a good idea to me, too. |

there still is a ''long term competition'' but also just who was best in one day. It makes it more fun, and it does not change the objectives but gives more. There will be more things to do, and you wont be called a noob i youve played it or years but started a new acount. It is just a good idea. Let the admins decide if they want to make the game better. Look at the poll. see the results? I voted yes and so did others. _________________ The rose is mightier then the sword, but a gun is best. |
