shield generator (class 2 ship)
a defense system that detects impacts on your ships. if a ship is not destroyed,
it immediately generates a shield around it.
if the first hit destroyes the ship,
the shield comes too late to save it.
if a ships is protected this way, it is dimensionally displaced and keeps alive
a sub-space carrier wave to the remaining ships nearby (in the same class).
if all other ships in that class are destroyed, it looses the carrier wave, thus it
cannot return to normal space directly.
in that case it will return at the end of battle.

it seems that your ships returned before his class 3 acted against your class 4, therefore, you lost them with the apollos (they return back to class 2)[/u]

Why did they return before all the class battles were finished? It clearly states that they return at the end of battle.

They were gone for the class two battle, and then appeared before the class three.

I have been using spectres/shields for a long time, and I have never seen this. Then again, I usually have more of a class three, and their class two usually doesnt get through it, so maybe that is why I have never seen it.

I know that I have used it in fleets with apollos, though.

It still doesnt seem right....

to anwers this question, we should ask our self another question. Is it needed to have a class 4 battle to recover the lost ships?
probably if you have no class 4 (thats what i understand for END of the battle), the ships will be lost in the other dimension

I have used a fleet with a spectre and gens, that looked like this...

0 9 0 0

...against fleets with more than 1100 class one ships, and all three other classes. The battle, in this case, ends after the class one, and my ships survive.

Even though there is no class four battle, the shielded ships return.

You may be right, I was under the impression that the whole battle had to finish before the shielded ships returned.
