Weylyn had been staring out of the windows of the bridge for some time, waiting patiently for his research division to collect their sample of chronoton particle gas.
He looked into the nebula, amazed and amused at the things the time bubbles showed him. He saw ships that he knew had been lost decades, in some cases centuries, before. He saw ships that he knew couldn't be there because they were still in spacedock. Suddenly, he was roughly removed from his observations.
"Conn, Scanners, new contact bearing one-nine-four. Distance thirteen lightyears and closing fast. We have incoming!"
Weylyn jumped from his high-perched place on the beams of the glass bridge deck to the main floor of the bridge. He landed on his legs, his power armour taking most of the force for him.
"Conn aye." He replied as he rose. "Prepare for contact, all hands to battle stations!"
Alarm signals went off on the bridge when the comms officer hit the alert. The light in the bridge lowered as the ship activated the red battle lighting to maximise visibility in the darkness of space. A shadow came across the bridge as a group of cruisers moved alongside of them, having received the call to arms as well.

Minutes later a group of small ships emerged from hyperspace. They ships bore no markings, but their make and build told Weylyn they were Space Mercenaries.
'What the hell are those doing here, did I offend someone?' He Mumbled. He stared at them for a second before giving his orders.
"Fire Control, launch interceptors. Await my signal to fire portside batteries."
He turned and nodded at the helm officer. "Helm, all ahead flank. Get me my broadside!"
A group of 250 small interceptor drones launched from the Invincible's carrier decks. They sped towards the enemy fighters and were quickly engaged. Right then the enemy swarm of corvettes started moving toward the Invincible and her escort cruisers. The smaller cruisers had already finished their turn and gave full broadside fire into the enemy formation, taking down dozens of the enemy ships.
"Conn, helm. Broadside, in 5…4…3…2…1…"
"Conn aye. Fire control, fire on all batteries. Full Broadside!"
The beams of the Ship's many pulsar batteries could be seen through the windows of the bridge. Seconds later the ship heaved with the recoil of several heavy railguns. Where the pulsars had taken out several dozen ships, the projectiles from the railguns ripped through several ships in one go.
Weylyn turned his gaze from the carnage in the enemy fleet to the scanner overview. His fleet had taken heavy casualties, but none of the manned ships had been hit. The enemy losses had been gruesome, and he knew typical mercentary ships did carry a crew.
"Ronan, chalk that one up as a victory…" _________________ Join the army, meet interesting people, kill them.

i had sacrificed about 500 points so that an ally would have a clear shot but rather than go in or wait at home he went halfway and left his fleet clearly visible in dsp for 9 hrs my sacrifice was for nothing _________________ STFU N00B!!!!111!1!
