Wouldnt it be cool if this WAS added?
A button next to every fleet on sensors that says "Intercept"

Then your fleet runs after fleet, and when it catches up with it, it attacks the fleet.

I wonder if this programmable, of so, then I think it would be really cool to add! What do you think?

It'd be good for defending, but offence would become a living hell. How can you attack a base if half the alliance comes in and eats you up before you ever even get there?

At one point i was very eager to see something like this, i even thought of making a ship that when within a specified range of the enemy fleet (like 3 sectors...) it could bring the enemy fleet to a stop and fight it. with its own fleets.. but the idea was a lil too hard to put into action ... or so i thought.

it be cool

I have to agree with Wylyn here, it wouldn't be such a good idea, it would be too easy for example if you have caught a flag of someone and you fedend with 10 fleets your base and you see an incoming, you let one of your mates fly in and destroy the dude.... no thanks, where's the fun like we had in TO then Methi?? would you like it if we had attacked you back in in outa space and kicked your butt before you could come in?? i don't think so actually

You make a very interesting point Darthmother. A pointwhich has changed my opinion.
However, MightyGod's post also has potential. What if you could only intercept with a certain mothership.

think it only can be implemented with the change that only you can intercept if you are at your base, and only with 1 fleet, not send for example 3 motherships. It would make the game quite a bit more challenging, you always wonder: is the enemy paying attention, does he use dsp's etc....

i suppose a building which forces fleets within 3 sectors of ur base to change course to ur base could be programmable, make the building a bit expensive, and then make a counter ship maybe...

Fleets in warp space are technically not in real space time, so there is no way they should be able to fight.
