Is there a technical isue to find multi's? Like ip adres?
If i join irc, a part of my ip adres will be showed.
Is it possible to set a part of the ip adres in every account where it is registered? Just like you can see the inlog name.
Most players are playing of home and ip adres stays the same. If we see 2 accounts fighting each other with the same ip adres, we know enough.
In this way the players can hadle it self and we don't have to report everything. Forum will be enough.

We don't actually store ip addresses, but we do have a way to detect if people are using the same computer. And this is a little story. There were 3 players in an alliance, let's name the players A,B,C and the alliance ABC
A was caught 58 times of using the accounts of B and 21 the accounts of C
B was only caught 58 times with A
C was only caught 21 times with A
This is kind of strange. Because IF A,B,C were just a bunch of people living in 1 house then it would be most likely that B and C were also being caught with each other. It is even more strange that B and C have email addresses that just look similar: only 5 of 9 letters difference in the part before the @
(I thought there was also a member D which had exactly the same email address as B)
But that we didn't found enough to convict player A. However, we remembered a situation like this before with similar names. We looked it up, and yes we did remember a case where we caught A,B,C in that time also. Just like then we didn't found enough evidence to convict player A for that, so we just keep it by B and C. The most surprising thing, which really puzzled us by then as ST community was that player A suddenly leave a day after we convicted B and C. So we wanted to see what happened this time and left A unconvicted. But then someone else came in, the one who has the power to actual delete accounts saw the report of A and press the guilty button right away. This is my story. |

Investigator, if you leave the multi problem will get out of hand.
From your messages above, i can see that it is almost impossible to convince you of not quitting.
So at least, hire another team or something.
I am sure some of the players ingame would like to volunteer.
I myself will give it a go if you ask it of me.
We cannot let multi's take over this game!
They are the scum of the galaxy.
Half the reasons why players leave IS the multi problem.
And i dont know if you noticed, but in the last week alone 40 players left.
I know this number may seem exagerated but it is not.
It is the cold, Harsh truth.
I have been keeping a record on irc.
It started off with a bout 280 players and now it has gone down to something like 239.
This is disgraceful.
We cannot let the multi's win.
Please, consider one of my recommendations.

Investigator... isn't there any way that you could plant a scipt or something in your site that logs ip-adresses... the only point of that is that people with a dial-up every time a different ip-address have, but not many people use dial-up anymore... Even i would like to check these files if a multi-accusation comes in.. If I could help letting ST being multi-free i would do that... Just the login-name and the ip-address in 1 file... think about it i should say.. If you haven't got one and would like 1 i would like to try and invent such a script.. No problem... |

Well the thing my rbo said about a script may be the best solution if mr investigator really wants to quit, i respect his opinion, it's a dirty job
But i was told that there used to be an IP-ban for cheating, ike that, it could return, the multiying will stop really quick after that
