12.06 13:23 From:Viking of Valhalle
So this is the way you want to play.
You can't handle our way of attacking so we are multi.
You will pay for this. Maybe not by me or maybe me with a new account if this one is unusable. But you will pay

Wapy, that is not proof. He is saying that he may have to restart under a new name.

This is not for vengeance, nor for fun. I can think of a shit ton better ways to spend my time than fighting some lazy multi fleets. This must be taken very seriously, for the good of the game.

I believe that some of them may be honestly trying to mend their ways, but some of them are still multis. To fix it, we have to punish them all. This is no laughing matter at all. If they are honest, we are ruining the game for them, and that is sad. We dont want to chase off any fair player from Spacetrace.

Its like putting down your dog.

If you want to laugh about it, wapy, I will come to your homeworld and kick your @$$ myself.

yeah, soz 2 do this 2 a fellow member wapy, but that isnt really proof. o, and btw, i hav removed the coordinates from my post earlier. i wud also like to appologise to the tfp for posting them. whatever they may or may not have done, it was wrong of me, and dishonourable, to post them. i appologise unreservedly. however, this will not stem my resolve to destroy the multis. sorry if i got your hopes up.

i also completely agree wiv An offer you cant refuse. this is a very serious matter, and it shud b treated as such. i dont like the game being ruined for good ppl, thats y i want to b part of this; to find the multis. if we do wipe out innocent players in the tfp, then it is sad. it is a bad day 4 spacetrace, when in order to cure the headache we hav to cut off the head. while i hate multis and attack them with zeal, i feel sorry for any honest players that i may hit, i really do. we all should. thanku An offer you cant refuse for making that point.

in fact, to go further than that, if the tfp are proved to be innocent, i will personally accept the blame for the evidence presented against them.

I have checked out some of the old post on multis and found some helpful post from admins at http://forum.spacetrace.com/viewtopic.php?topic=916&forum=11.

very good ! (if you hit some1 innocent, don't worry, space battles are part of the game )

the players must do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also the investigators have a hard job, and only convict players if they have enough evidence. They cannot delete accounts and can give only warnings. The only take action when they find proof of guilt. So if you see the "steps have alreay been taken against this player" message where the report a multi box should be in a players latest attack section, then the investigators had found proof of guilt. This is one of the reasons I do not buy the "we work at the same company" excuse.

Here is the response you get when they find a player you reported guilty:

Quote:
31.05 18:30 from Investigator of The Travellers
Subject:Multi Investigation
Case: Killer-instinct of death-star (xxxxxx)
Time: 2004-05-30 15:29:20
We found enough evidence to think this player is a multi.
He is considered as guilty.
Steps are taken.
Thanks for helping this game be multi-proof
.

Here is a response I got from them a couple of weeks ago to a message about multis I sent them:
Quote:
31.05 16:56 from Investigator of The Travellers
Subject:Some remarks
"I know it must be time consuming running the game and checking for multis, but I feel if this if left unaddressed the quality of the game may be compromised."

Do not. If you think anyone is a multie, please report. The only irritating is that guilty multies always denying that they are multies and that some people like to report people without a reason.

"I understand that this game is just a part time hobby for you admins"

We are not admins but players. But are not very keen on this job either.

"and you may not be able to do much about this"

innocent till otherwise is proofen. Sometimes I think it is better if it was the other way around but that is not very effective though. Some people won't delete their own multie accounts. And the only one except them who could delete the accounts are the admins.

Investigator

I think the invesigators are doing a great job and I thank them.

It is clear to me though that we must take care of things after a certain point. I will repeat what I stated before. Check out the individual TFP players and see how many of them have been convicted. If you don't want to attack those who have not been convicted, then don't. My opinion is that they are all guilty by association since the alliance has so many multis. It is not an easy decision to publicly out multis because they have the power to retaliate with thier many fleets from thier multiple accounts. And I am sure that mdellis and myself may face such attacks in the future.

If all the TFP player who are convicted multis will openly admit they are multis in this topic and close their accounts, I would be more than happy to let the others be. But remember, many of us will still be watching TFP and if you make new accounts and have more convictions, we can take actions again and not be as understanding next time.

Progress report: I know Leia, a killer instint of star of death, and sneaky of globe have been attacked so far by Privateers and -TO-. We have had some of our bases come under attack from TFP so I will be heading to defend when I can.

The best way to do this may be to put a probe on you target and if you see others attacking that target contact them to coordinate you actions.

I have Leia's base on probe and a killer instinct. Post who you have on probe here and let others contact you to plan actions.

Also, please post who you have already attacked so we can get an idea how the war is going.

Thanks,
Aeleon

I got a very good idea for combatting multi's.
A court. The admin is the judge. And when a player is a suspected multi twelve people become the jury.
Then we hear the evidence we hear thye defence we have a vote, and bing bang boom the multi's account is deleted, or the defended!
WHAT SAY YOU?

@promethius2

That sounds like a good idea, but from what I have been reading, I don't think the admin have the time. It sounds like even if the admin knows who the multis are that he does not have the time to deal with them all.

It is not a questions of admins having time, just a question of guilty players responding. Because it seems that the right to remain silence is widely known.

You could create a more fullproof court.
One player forwards the evidence.
12 jurors to analyse it.
suspect can choose to make a statement in his defence.
jurors reach a verdict.
Judge (could be both player or admin) decides punishment.

The way I see it the judge is the main problem. This could also be a player. He simply passes on the sentence to an admin to be carried out.
The judges could also be given limited admin powers, but you would have to find judges that are 100% trustworthy to avoid abuse.

I do not think it is necessary to make a big production out of this. The admin can do what they want, and that is the end of it. We dont need juries, or judges, or cops, or district attorneys, or anything else.

By establishing a system like that, you are assuming that players have a right to play. Spacetrace is not a right, it's a privelege.

I was a moderator in a game before I came to Spacetrace (Right, Technoseal? ). It is tough to be 100% sure who is a cheater and who isnt. Of course, you want people to play, so you cant just ban people at will. Not only that, but admin works, has families, etc. Spacetrace is a hobby, not a 40 hour/week career.

If someone were to be suspected of being a multi, and there is enough evidence to take him to "trial", F-it, just ban him. It would be more work and pain in the ass to present this to 12 players and wait for them to all get back to you, anyways. (And they would always find him guilty.)

One more note. Multis dont really give a crap anyways. They would quit even if they werent caught, after a little while. I had two friends I told about this game, and they played for a while, but then got bored of it, so they made multi accounts, then quit after a day or two.

Ok, we can all fight multi's and we do it.

But we don't need game updates with judge and jury's. Spacetrace is of the admin's and they have the right to do what they want. If they want to bann a player, than they will do it. If they give a player the change to delete his multi account, then we have to accept it. This is the game of the admin's and they don't ask money to play.

So for all players, accept the decissions of the admin,

For the multi's, follow the rules of the admin, be not multi. It is the admin's game and it is for free. So be happy and play with 1 account!!!!!!!!!!
Delete your multi account!

@An offer... You were moderator of that game? Didn't think there were much to do there. Must be loosing my memory

Anyway,
I have a probe at Leia's planet and as stated earlier, I have already attacked her.
Now they have 7 fleets that might be gathering to retaliate against me. They are currently 6 sectors away.

Yes, that was the most multi-infested game I have ever had the unfortunate experience of playing.

I bet it was, and it got boring pretty fast too.
But they still have our scores. In that game, I could score better than you

btw.
