scans target sectors for planets. most of its energy is used for propellant because it travels with transwarp, so it can only scan 1 sector

well someone gives u an important co ord, but u dont know if it is correct or not. this probe will tell u without u having to fly there, and it will tell u quickly.

Also, you can confirm far away allies, without travelling the huge distance, thereby giving u more accurate information in your alliance incomings window.
