i don't know how to go about this but i think it would be cool if it were possible to give things percentage of chance. like you could have a basic research that gives, say, all fighters and 15% chance to evade an attack or something you know? or a 10% chance to get a second attack. like it could be some kind of basic research. i think it would be cool.

i have no idea what you meant by that.
But what i meant is to give a percentage chance. like in my example if you research the right thing your fighter has a 1 in 10 chance of getting a second attack. i have no idea what being on the internet has anyhting to do with what i said

This would make the game more interesting, because this would make battles more unpredictable, in addition to the attack order.

Chnaces could be made really awesome if they were put in, you could have criticles and all that. BUT it would add luck to a mainly stratagy based game

wWell i dont know about criticals but it would make the game a little more chancy and realistic. In a real war if you send the same amount of troops right at each other you might expect them to get killed evenly. But that does not always happen. With chances a ship might evade an attack it wouldnt be a very high chance but it could happen just like a real fighter might dodge the machine gun of another aircraft...you know? Also if it were implemented it should be for all races.

There is an element of chance simply in the battle order of ships fighting in a class. For instance a commando fighter with 1000 fighters may give double firepower to 1-1000 of the fighters.

During testing one time, I found wildly different results in repeated battles with the same fleets ( They were pretty weird fleets cos I was testing) But I found with 2 full mp fleets a difference of nearly 3000pts one time depending on the battle order, I was surprised at the time, I cant remember what ships were involved now, wish I could!!

There is also the element of chance with probes, you can only tell what class the ships are not whether they are fighters ceptors or whatever.

And against more than one fleet, you cannot tell which fleet you will fight first, this also adds an element of chance.

I designed one ship, which was to fire randomly into class 2 from class one (The spitball) But there was no modifier I could use to define it as such. I am not sure whether this can be done or not, possibly, but I think making all ships hit/miss would kind of mess up the game.

i guess you're right and it would probably be hard to program but it would make it pretty cool. you know? it would make it more realistic (not that im saying a game about aliens blasting each other up is so realistic) but it involves more of an element of chance. i dont know i think it would be cool.
